Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Nulu ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information when you join our waitlist. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Nulu is run by Kinpods (Pty) Ltd, a South African company. It helps people find local, in-person gatherings and the hosts who run them. You can reach us about privacy at hello@nulu.life.

2. What we collect

When you join the waitlist we collect:

• Your email address — so we can contact you with updates and your launch invitation.
• Your approximate location (city and region) — to understand where demand is and plan gatherings near you. This may be derived from your IP address or provided by you.
• Your IP address — used to estimate your location and to help prevent spam sign-ups.
• If you sign up as a host: the kind of activity you'd like to host and the area you'd operate in.
• Referral information — if you arrive via a friend's invite link, we record that link so we can credit your referrer.

3. Why we collect it (your consent)

We process this information on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the form. We use it to:

• add you to our launch waitlist and notify you when we go live;
• send you occasional progress updates about what we're building;
• decide which cities to launch gatherings in first;
• operate our referral programme.

Nulu currently operates in South Africa only.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the waitlist, acting on our instructions as operators under POPIA — for example our database provider (Supabase) and our email delivery provider. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound to keep it secure.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist information until we launch and you become a member or host, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. If we decide not to proceed, we will delete waitlist data within a reasonable period.

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or update it;
• ask us to delete it or withdraw your consent at any time;
• object to how we use it;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

7. Security

Your information is stored on secured, access-controlled infrastructure. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Nulu develops. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
